FORTY per cent of Australians aged between 18 and 29 are risking overseas travel without insurance, according to research released today by Australia Post.
The research also found that one in four travellers over the age of 50 is flying without insurance cover.
Australia has reciprocal healthcare agreements to cover the cost of essential medical treatment for Australian residents travelling in New Zealand, the UK, the Republic of Ireland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland, Italy, Belgium, Malta, Slovenia and Norway.
However, a Federal Government website warns these ?aren?t designed to replace private travel health insurance for overseas travel?.
Each of the aforementioned countries provides treatment to a point, but there are limits and grey areas.
