Cripple Creek marked 20 years of legal gambling last month, but the anniversary was muted. The historic mining town doesn't have much to celebrate as its gaming industry faces an uncertain future.
The recession reportedly has hit the gambling business hard. And there are new worries about tax changes being considered by the state gaming commission.
The commission is thinking about removing a loophole in the casino tax structure that allows one owner to operate up to three licenses in adjacent buildings. Because the state's gaming tax is graduated, dividing operations into smaller pieces can qualify operators for a lower rate.
The gaming commission discussed the issue in October, but delayed a decision to its next meeting, scheduled for Nov. 17 in Central City.

I've been going to C-C since it opened, and I can tell you they have cut payouts year after year, and now all I play are the penny machines. I to hate to see people lose jobs but casinois gread has turned me off to even waste time driving up the hill.

Well I can see that KKTV in spite of their statement does not allow someone to post anything that points out their errors.
